SUNS DOMINATE TO WIN FIRST GAME

Suns grabbed their first win of the new season following a 122-50 victory at the Oakland Wolves.

Having been beaten in their first game by reigning champs London Lions last week, the Suns responded in excellent fashion as they dominated their opponents from start to finish.

Renee Busch led the way with 28 points, whilst five of her teammates joined her with double digit performances.

It was a very strong start as the visitors looked to get back on track, and they were well on their way to victory after just the first quarter, putting up 34 points to the hosts’ 22.

The Wolves, who had just come off their own defeat to the Lions, had been dealt a tricky start to the campaign as they struggled to contain the Suns on both ends of the court. The second quarter was when the game truly slipped away from them as they could only muster five points against a resolute Suns’ defence.

Offensively, the Suns couldn’t be contained as they scored 31 themselves to take a very commanding 38-point lead into halftime (27-65).

The second half took a similar pattern to the first, with Len Busch’s side increasing their advantage by winning the final two quarters 24-9 and 33-14 respectively. This resulted in a 72-point winning margin thanks to a great team effort.

In addition to her 28 points, Busch also recorded 13 rebounds and nine assists as she was on the cusp of a triple double. She also caught fire from downtown, converting six of her 11 attempts.

Elsewhere, Judit Fritz scored 22 and Katie Cox scored 21, with the latter being just 16 years old. Julia Koppl also produced a well-rounded performance, with 15 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.

Next week, the Suns will look to continue this form as they return home to face the Newcastle Eagles on Saturday. Grab your tickets NOW:
